Everglades by KaiserFlames Everglades by KaiserFlames
This was the final project for my Illustration Studio class in which we were told to create a piece based on one of a number of national parks or sports with the intent to turn it into stamps. I chose the 3 on top of 3 layout and the Everglades, with birds as my choice as the subject matter. From left to right, top to bottom the animals pictured are: Swallow-tailed Kite, Roseate Tern, Swamp Sparrow, Purple Gallinule, Red Knot, and the Black-Crowned Night Heron. This is my first attempt at this kind of illustration and while I enjoyed it, I know for a fact that I did not get the birds perfect, especially in regards to scale (except for the terns, they're in the SUPER FOREGROUD, so they're bigger than they ought to be). Still, it was a fun exercise.

I love birds!

I really love this--seeing an assortment of birds in their native habitat. It's one of my favorite pieces in your gallery. I've featured it in my Ardeidae journal here: [link]

Very cool! And don't worry about the scale or anything like that; have you seen James Guerney's "panoramic" stamp set?

Birds are beautiful and this is a gorgeous illustration... who cares if it's not perfectly to scale. The composition is astounding!

How cool! I used to live in Florida, and this makes me a bit homesick.

What's impressive about this is that is looks like it could have been done with traditional media. Very awesome.

Very different from what I know of your work, but utterly lovely and entrancing.
